14 May Scientific Pharmacy 186th-Anniversary Celebrations and White Coat Ceremony at Our University

The 186th-anniversary celebrations of Scientific Pharmacy on 14 May began in the morning with the laying of a wreath at the Atatürk Monument by the executive board and members of the Tokat Chamber of Pharmacists, together with our faculty members and students. After the ceremony, a festive gathering was held at the Tokat Chamber of Pharmacists; refreshments were offered and the social value of the pharmacy profession was discussed.

In the afternoon, the celebrations continued with a programme in the National Will Hall of the 15 July Congress Centre at our University. The ceremony was attended by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Rasim Koçyiğit, Deputy Governor Osman Sarı, Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Muhittin Demiray, Rector’s Adviser Prof. Dr. Onur Saraçoğlu, Provincial Director of National Education Hüseyin Kır, Deputy Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Ali İhsan Kurtulan, President of the Tokat Chamber of Pharmacists Pharm. Hakan Yılmazer, President of the Tokat Medical Chamber Dr. Selim Kaylan, former KADEM Tokat Provincial Representative Pharm. Müjgan Arslan, deans, academic and administrative staff, as well as students and their families.

The programme opened with a musical recital by the TOGÜ State Conservatory, offering the audience moments filled with art.

Artificial Intelligence Conference Draws Intense Interest

The event began with a conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Health and Pharmacy” delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahir Kaya. Followed with great interest by the participants, the presentation highlighted the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on today’s healthcare services and pharmacy practice, offering forward-looking insights into the role technology will play in future health systems.

Emotional Moments at the White Coat Ceremony

The day concluded with the “White Coat Ceremony,” symbolising the students’ first step into the profession. As Faculty of Pharmacy students donned their white coats under the proud gaze of their families and academics, the hall witnessed emotional moments; the ceremony was etched in memory as a symbolic beginning that cements the students’ professional identities.

To round off the day’s programme, students exhibited a poster presentation entitled “Combating Addiction.” Designed and prepared by undergraduates from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the display showcased evidence-based strategies for prevention, treatment, and community engagement, underscoring the profession’s crucial role in public-health advocacy and social responsibility.
