The "Role of Pharmacists in Combating Addiction and AMATEM Information Meeting," organized by the Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Pharmacy Students' Association (GOPSA), was held with the participation of our Dean, faculty members, and students.
The event focused on raising awareness and discussing the strategic roles pharmacists play in tackling addiction, a critical issue threatening public health. The meeting was attended by our Dean, academic staff, and a large number of students from our faculty.
Moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Adem Dursun, a faculty member of our department, the meeting detailed the medical, psychological, and social dimensions of combating addiction with the contributions of expert guest speakers.

The speakers provided comprehensive information regarding the treatment processes for individuals diagnosed with addiction and the operational procedures of AMATEM (Alcohol and Substance Addiction Treatment Center). The meeting highlighted the critical position of pharmacists in addiction management through medication counseling and patient follow-up, emphasizing the importance of recognizing health services and providing correct guidance.
The Pharmacy Students' Association stated that this meeting aimed to guide students on the protocols they should follow when encountering addiction cases in their future professional lives. Following an interactive Q&A session, the event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the participants.
